Football Recruiting: Tanner Gentry commits to Wyoming

Two-star 2013 WR/S Tanner Gentry has committed to the Wyoming Cowboys, and the Grandview High star will play at wide receiver for Wyoming, although the athlete can also play at safety.

Tanner Gentry received one other offer in his recruitment from Air Force, but it is Wyoming who will land the recruit who is a good fit with the coaching staff and team. Some major programs were interested in Gentry, including Arizona State, Colorado, Washington State, Wisconsin, and UCLA.

The 6’3″, 180 pound WR from Aurora, Colorado runs a 4.58 forty, and he is one of the top 15 recruits in the 2013 class in the state. Gentry was tabbed by pundits to pick Wyoming, and he has made the call and is the Cowboys third commit in the 2013 class.

The recent MWC commit was one of the best receivers in the state and had one of the highest interception totals as a defensive back in Colorado. Tanner Gentry, however, is better off at receiver with his speed and catching ability. He has more upside at that position and is a two-star recruit who is a bit unheralded. Gentry is perfect for Wyoming, and he is a good addition to their 2013 class.

Gentry has a high amount of talent, and Wyoming wants to focus more on recruiting in Colorado and building their reputation in that state after receiving no commitments from Co. in 2012. Adding a top 15 in-state recruit in Gentry furthers that cause for the Cowboys, and they will get a guy who had 50 receptions and ten interceptions for Grandview last year.

Wyoming is getting a kid that hasn’t even tapped his full potential yet. Get ready for some serious nationally ranked numbers next year.

I agree, Gentry is a recruit with a huge amount of potential and is under the radar.
