Football Recruiting: Dillan Lawson Decommits From Florida

by 2013 Football Class

Dillan Lawson is a high-line three-star or fringe four-star outside linebacker who can also play at defensive end. The Florida Gators 2013 commit from the state has decommitted in a mutual decision.

No longer part of the Gators class, Lawson has also received offers from Florida State, Louisville, UNC, and Southern Mississippi. The 60th best recruit in the state, Lawson is a better fit at outside linebacker due to his ability to diagnose plays and shut down the opponent’s running game. He is a great outside run stopper in addition to being a good edge rusher.

Dillan Lawson has all the tools to be a quality outside linebacker, but he doesn’t look like a true DE at this point. Lawson is the 30th best OLB in the 2013 class, but the decision to decommit was mutual between Lawson and UF.

It’s tough to gauge what will happen next for the 6’4″, 215 pound Crestview standout, because he has been committed to Florida since mid-February. Lawson’s decision to commit to the Gators was initially viewed as a surprise, which has made his decision to decommit less of a surprise. The top three-star talent has an in-state offer from Florida State and a lot of options on his plate.
