Football Recruiting: Clifton Garrett has top three

by 2014 Football Class

2014 top 50 inside linebacker recruit Clifton Garrett has a top three of Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Ohio State heading into today’s visit to Michigan State. Garrett is set to visit the Michigan Wolverines next week, and they will be looking to get on the top four-star recruit’s short list and can boost their stock in his eyes with a good visit.

Clifton Garrett has received offers from Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin as well as MSU, OSU, and ND. He still hasn’t received an offer from Michigan, and there are also a few other elite programs with interst who have yet to offer in Iowa, Oregon, Penn State, and West Virginia. Garrett has been recruited by the following coaches: Lester Erb, Mike Vrabel, Dan Roushar, Chuck Martin, Luke Butkus, Mark Hagen, Chris Ash, Curt Mallory, and Bill Bedenbaugh.

All those elite programs are after this elite player, who is certainly the best recruit in the state of Illinois in 2014. The Plainfield standout stands at 6’2″ and weighs 215 pounds, and he is arguably the best inside linebacker in the 2014 class. Garrett is a top five linebacker in the class as well, and he is coming off of a season with 78.5 tackles, three sacks, and three fumbles forced.

On Monday, Clifton Garrett had a successful camp at Wisconsin and was offered by the Badgers just two days later. He helps make up one of the best inside linebacker classes in recent history with Donte Booker and Raekwon McMillan. His visit at Michigan is crucial for the Wolverines and should net him an offer, and his visit today at MSU has a chance at moving the Spartans ahead of a pack of top teams for a top recruit with massive Big Ten interest.
