Delano Spencer has received offers from Auburn, Furman, Georgia Southern, and St. Joseph’s. Clemson, Georgia, Marquette, Ole Miss, Tennessee Tech, Winthrop, Mississippi State, and Florida Atlantic have all shown interest in the 6’3″, 205 pound 2013 guard.
Lauded for his scoring ability, Spencer was a standout last month at a camp in Auburn and is one of their targets at the position heading into 2013. He can bring a college team the ability to hit three-pointers at a solid clip, and he is a strong shooting guard who has the ability to create his own shot. After all, he did average 17.3 PPG as a junior.
A two-sport star in football and basketball at Greater Atlanta Christian, Delano Spencer was rumored to be transferring to Buford High. That isn’t happening, and he will continue to be play at his current school. Spencer is one of the most underrated recruits in the state of Georgia in this class, and he has been performing well at various camps.
A former Parkview High star before transferring to Greater Atlanta Christian, Spencer mainly breaks apart defenses with his shooting ability. While his jumpshot is great, some critics believe that Spencer should attack the rim more due to his strength. I think he knows his strengths offensively, and he does drive to the rim when necessary. However, his jumpshot is his best weapon and he uses his outside shot very effectively.
