2014 Chicago inside linebacker Clifton Garrett is one of the top 50 recruits in his class and the second best ILB overall. Garrett currently has a top three of Ohio State, Michigan State, and Notre Dame with OSU and MSU said to be heavily involved in his recruitment. Recently, a top Big 12 program extended an offer to the ultra-talented linebacker, and that team is Oklahoma.

In addition to offers from those four teams, Clifton Garrett has offers from Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Purdue. Iowa, Vanderbilt, Iowa State, Oregon, West Virginia, and Penn State are also interested in the high-line, four-star recruit who helps make up one of the top ILB classes in the past decade.
The Plainfield South standout recorded 78.5 tackles with three sacks and three tackles for loss, and Garrett is the consensus top recruit in the state of Illinois in 2014. His ability to cover sideline-to-sideline is terrific, and his tackling and technique are both two huge strong points. Garrett is also able to hold up in coverage and camped at the Illinois NFTC, with Ohio State, and with the Badgers.
Clifton Garrett is 6’2″, 215 pounds and will definitely make our FanSided150 list for the 2014 recruiting class once it is out. The recent offer from Oklahoma is yet another big one for Garrett and shows that it isn’t just the Big Ten elite who are looking at him. Michigan State is really driving hard after him, and it is encouraging for the Spartans to hear that he is already weighing them heavily along with Ohio State; it puts them with and above some big programs in the region.
