On Thursday evening, Syracuse got great news when they received their first commitment from the Class of 2013 in Toronto-native Tyler Ennis, one of the best point guards in the country. He chose his “dream school” Syracuse over the likes of Illinois, Memphis, UCLA and Lousiville. Ennis is a 6-foot-3 pure point guard who can run a team without turnovers and has tremendous passing abilities. On top of that, Ennis can really shoot it from three point range and has the ability to get into the paint and score.
Ennis had a great AAU summer with the Canadian CIA Bounce Program where he led them to a Nike Peach Jam Final and a perfect record of 14-0 throughout the three different Nike EYBL sessions in Minneapolis,Hampton and Dallas while getting a #1 U17 ranking by fivestarbasketball.com. Coming into his senior year of high school at national powerhouse St.Benedicts in New Jersey, Ennis will be the best player on a loaded roster which will compete for a state championship.
While arriving on the Syracuse campus during the 2013-2014 season when Syracuse will be entering the ACC, Ennis could be the starting point guard from day one. With senior Brandon Triche graduating, and possibly the early depature of Michael Carter-Williams to the NBA, Ennis will definitely see major minutes and might ultimately become the starting point guard for Jim Boehiem. Ennis will be able to contribute very well and control the pace of the game because of his great composure and decision making abilities. Now that Syracuse has it’s first commitment, look for Syracuse’s who is currently involved with many highly touted prospects to have an extremely talented 2013 freshmen class.
