2014 big man Jacquil Taylor continues to grab attention in the Boston area, and his exposure is growing across the country. At 6’9” and 210 pounds he is an athletic force in the paint. His defensive game is well polished with his shot blocking and rebounding abilities and he continues to work on his offensive game on the summer circuit. The left-handed big man has earned praise all over.
The Beaver Country Day student out of Cambridge, MA has unique aspects to his game that makes it difficult for other teams to defend him. Jacquil still has the ability to run the floor well with his size and his vision is a tremendous help for his teammates. He has a great sense of space around the basket.
Jacquil mentions that he wants, “to work on ball handling, shooting and my arsenal of post moves” that would be a dynamic addition on the offensive side of the ball.
He is currently holding offers from Iona, UMass, Boston College, Boston University, Siena, Holy Cross, and Temple. He believes that Stanford is close to offering as well. His brother, Maurice, also holds similar offers.
Interest is gaining coast to coast from Pittsburgh, Washington, DePaul, and Notre Dame for Jacquil. After clearly impressing over the summer he has demanded attention.
Planning on taking his time before committing, Jacquil maintains that he doesn’t plan on committing until the beginning of his senior year.
When asked about a top 3 Jacquil said, “Boston University, UMass, and probably Pitt.” This is far from set in stone though and he still wants to get a feel for many of the schools.
Jacquil would like to play with his brother but it isn’t a make or break factor in choosing a school. Location also is not an issue when it comes to his decision. Overall Jacquil still has a long way to go in the process but he is off to a great start.
