On Sunday, September 2nd, three Paducah Tilghman High School teammates will be in attendance for the Louisville Cardinal’s game against the Kentucky Wildcats at Papa John’s Stadium in Louisville. The trio includes wide receiver and defensive back, Darrius Spivey-Nunn, offensive lineman, Kendall Calhoun, and defensive lineman, Derik Overstreet.
Both Overstreet and Spivey-Nunn are Class of 2014 prospects that are expected to make a huge impact on the Paducah Tilghman football team this year. After two games Spivey-Nunn has three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown, and has also caught two touchdown passes on the offensive side of the ball. Overstreet has made an impact on the defensive side of the ball as well, being one of the team’s leading tacklers and causing a safety that sealed the deal in Tilghman’s first win of the season against Lone Oak High School. Both are also receiving interest from the University of Kentucky.
Unlike the other two prospects, Kendall Calhoun, is in the Class of 2013 and has been creating plenty of holes for Tilghman running backs through their first two games. He has received interest from schools such as Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Southern Illinois, Rice, and Illinois State. One major thing that stands out to most coaches about Calhoun is his size. Standing at 6’7″ and weighing 257 pounds, he has more than prototypical size for an FBS lineman.
As far as where Louisville stands at this point, Calhoun had this to say, “To be honest, that’s a school I’d like to go to and they’re showing the most interest.”
It’s unknown where U of L stands with the other two prospects, but a visit this weekend could give the Cardinals a lot of momentum in all three of these young men’s recruitment. Playing Kentucky will also be an interesting factor as all three also have interest from Kentucky. This visit could virtually make or break Louisville’s chances with these talented studs, but with Coach Charlie Strong’s recent recruiting success, expect this visit to go very well.
