Basketball Recruiting: Julius Randle Will Announce Decision On March 20th

2013 power forward Julius Randle will announce his college decision on March 20th.

Randle has offers from eleven teams. Although, he has cut his list down to six teams.

The six teams on his list include: the Kansas Jayhawks, the Kentucky Wildcats, the Texas Longhorns, the North Carolina State Wolfpack, the Florida Gators, and the Oklahoma Sooners.

However, it is projected that Kansas and Kentucky are among the favorites to land the No. 2 recruit in the nation. Although, Texas is a short third.

Randle is a 6’9″, 250 pound power forward from Plano, Texas. He is currently a senior at Prestonwood Christian High School.

The Prestonwood Christian Lions finished with an overall record of 15-19.

However, they able to defeat Nolan Catholic High School (Fort Worth) in the TAPPS Class 5A state championship game.

Nolan Catholic’s Michael Hoffman guarded Randle in that state championship game.

After the game, Hoffman said, “Great players make great plays and Randle definitely made great plays.”

Out of the top three teams on his list, Randle is being recruited by two assistant coaches and one head coach. The assistant coaches that are recruiting him are Norm Roberts (Kansas) and Russell Springmann (Texas). The head coach that is recruiting him is John Calipari of the Kentucky Wildcats.

Randle was selected to play in the 2013 Jordan Brand Classic.

The five-star recruit is currently ranked 1st in the state of Texas, 1st among power forwards, and 2nd nationally among 2013 high school recruits by 247Sports.
