6’5″, 185 pound Moss Point shooting guard Devin Booker is one of the top 25 recruits in the 2014 class, and he is on an unofficial visit today to check out the Michigan Wolverines. Expect a big recruiting battle between bitter rivals Michigan and Michigan State, as Booker visited the Spartans program just a few days ago.
In addition to Michigan and Michigan State, Booker is looking closely at other blue bloods in the Duke Blue Devils, North Carolina Tar Heels, and the Florida Gators. Booker is also interested in the Missouri Tigers program. The UNC Tar Heels have not offered Booker, but they are a strong factor in the five-star SG’s recruitment, as Booker visited Chapel Hill in late February. On the same day, he took a trip to UNC’s bitter rivals in Durham, Duke, and received an offer from Coach K.
Booker also has offers from Arkansas, LSU, Alabama, and just one in-state school in the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Those four SEC programs are not expected to be a factor in the battle for the top recruit in the state of Mississippi. He also visited the Gators earlier this month.
Today’s visit to Michigan is a big one in his recruitment, and it will be interesting to see if the Wolverines can gain some ground in his recruitment. There are so many rivalries at play here, with the biggest ones being UM and MSU and then the kind of them all in Duke vs. UNC.
A Michigan native, Devin Booker has an excellent basketball pedigree, and he is one of the best scorers in the class. The blue-chip prospect has a deadly shot from long-range, and he has the ability to go off for huge scoring totals. The Moss Point standout averaged 23.6 points per game, 3.1 assists per game, and even 8.5 rebounds per game as a guard, so Booker can definitely do more than just shoot at a high level.
