The Baylor Bears have a host of talented recruits in Waco, Texas today for their junior day, and one of them is three-star offensive guard Blake Blackmar, who is ranked by most recruiting publications as one of the top 125 recruits in the state of Texas. The Kansas State Wildcats and Baylor are the two teams at the top for Blackmar in the early going, but there is another quality, in-state Big 12 program to watch for closely in the Texas Tech Raiders. Although these five schools haven’t offered, Blackmar is high on the Oklahoma Sooners, Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma State Cowboys, California Golden Bears, and TCU Horned Frogs. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the LSU Tigers join in and extend an offer to Blackmar.
The top 50 guard is rated by the 247Composite as exactly the 800th best player in the 2014 recruiting class, and it will be interesting to see how this junior day trip with Baylor goes. The Bears are in a great position to land him, and both BU and Kansas State have Blackmar as among their top targets in the class.
He attended Baylor’s junior day in early February, and that’s when the Houston native received his offer from the program. He also attended TCU’s junior day and K-State’s junior day, with the Wildcats extending their offer to Blackmar on that trip. Back in late October, Blackmar took a trip to Norman on an unofficial visit to check out the Sooners.
A 6’5″, 309 pound guard, the Clear Lake standout is an intriguing recruit to watch for and is one of Baylor’s biggest visitors at what can be viewed as a large junior day turnout.
