The Notre Dame Fighting Irish picked up a huge commitment yesterday from 6’5″, 25o pound strong-side defensive end Andrew Trumbetti, who is ranked by the 247Composite as the 103rd best player in the nation. He could move himself into the top 100, and there is no doubt that he is one of the top ten SDEs in the nation and one of the top three prospects in the state of New Jersey.
Trumbetti was recruited hard by Notre Dame, and they were the favorites to land him all along. He gave his pledge to Notre Dame at their junior day yesterday, and he received his offer from the Irish back in June just a few days after camping there. The only other school Trumbetti visited was in-state power Rutgers over the summer, and that was on another camp visit. The Michigan State Spartans made a push for him, as Pat Narduzzi offered Trumbetti when he visited the DE back in January.
The four-star Demarest standout also had offers from Virginia, Boston College, Purdue, UCF, Florida, Maryland, Florida International, Connecticut, and Miami. There were a few other major programs such as USC that had interest, but it seemed like Trumbetti always held the Irish in high regard over the rest.
