2013 three-star power forward Matthew Atewe committed to the Auburn Tigers on March 30th. He became the fifth recruit from the Class of 2013 to commit to the Tigers (three of which have signed their letters of intent).
Matthew Atewe had offers from the Auburn Tigers, Nevada Wolfpack, Charlotte 49ers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Kansas State Wildcats, Dayton Flyers, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Marquette Golden Eagles, and St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
Although he committed to Auburn, the Tigers were one of the only teams that Atewe didn’t visit throughout the recruitment process.
He visited Kansas State (September 14th), Nebraska (January 5th), Connecticut (January 8th), Charlotte (March 9th), and Nevada (March 16th).
By looking at the 2013 commits for Auburn, it appears the Tigers are going to be adding some height to their team next season. Atewe is the third tallest commit for the Tigers. Four out of the five are above the height of 6’7″.
Atewe is a 6’9″, 230 pound power forward from Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He played this past season at Notre Dame Preparatory School.
The three-star recruit is ranked 5th in the state of Massachusetts and 64th among power forwards by 247Sports.
