Michigan State Football Recruiting: Spartans land Chase Gianacakos

The Michigan State Spartans are building a top 20 recruiting class early on, as they landed their fourth commitment today in three-star Illinois offensive tackle Chase Gianacakos. He gives the Spartans their first commit on the line, and all four of their commitments come from the Midwest region.

Gianacakos had offers from the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Indiana Hoosiers, Kansas Jayhawks, Missouri Tigers, Illinois Fighting Illini, Ball State, Bowling Green, Wyoming, Western Michigan, and Toledo. The Michigan Wolverines were also showing significant interest in the three-star prospect, and Boston College, Northwestern, and Wisconsin were three other major programs with interest in Gianacakos.

The 6’6″, 280 pound Saint Charles standout had a length unofficial visit with the Spartans about a week ago, and he also visited Minnesota shortly after. The Gophers added their offer a couple of days ago, and they were one of four Big Ten programs to offer Gianacakos, who is ranked by the 247Composite as the 895th best recruit in the nation. Missouri and Northwestern also received visits from the massive OT.

He is rated by most recruiting services as a top 25 recruit in the state of Illinois, and the newest Michigan State commit is safely in the top 60 among offensive tackles in the nation. Ron Burton is listed by 247Sports as the lead recruiter for Gianacakos’s services.
