Maryland Football Recruiting: Connecticut offers Juwann Winfree

2014 three-star athlete Juwann Winfree received a Big East offer today from the Connecticut Huskies to push up his number of offers in this recruiting period to 16. One of the top 50 athletes in the country, Winfree is one of the top 450 recruits overall and has received major interest from New Jersey’s in-state power the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. He has an offer from Rutgers and actually took a trip there on an unofficial visit yesterday.

Winfree, however, seems to have his eyes set on the Maryland Terrapins and has an offer from the Big Ten bound Terps. RHe also has offers from UMass, the Syracuse Orange, the Boston College Eagles, the Cincinnati Bearcats, the Pittsburgh Panthers, the West Virginia Mountaineers, the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Georgia Bulldogs, the North Carolina State Wolfpack, the Michigan Wolverines, the Kansas Jayhawks, and the Nebraska Cornhukers. Notre Dame is also showing significant interest, and it will be interesting to see if Bob Diaco and the Fighting Irish offer Winfree at some point. Penn State and Wisconsin are also reportedly interested.

The 6’2″, 180 pound Dwight Morrow High standout from Engelwood, New Jersey is ranked by the 247Composite as the 11th-best player in the state. Juwann Winfree has a large list of offers and checks in with solid, three-star evaluations, and it will be interesting to see if other teams like Rutgers start to gain ground in his recruitment. The Big East has a strong presence in Winfree’s recruitment, and the recent offer from UConn is evidence of this.
