The Mississippi Rebels will host one of the best weak-side defensive ends in the country today and tomorrow in four-star WDE Andrew Williams of McDonough, Georgia. Williams is our 136st ranked recruit in the FanSided150 rankings, and he is also one of the top 15 prospects in the state of Georgia and a top ten weak-side DE overall. The Eagle’s Landing Christian standout currently has no leans.
Williams has a long list of major offers from the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Oklahoma Sooners, Boston College Eagles, Duke Blue Devils, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Kentucky Wildcats, North Carolina Tar Heels, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Florida State Seminoles, Louisville Cardinals, Indiana Hoosiers, Miami Hurricanes, Missouri Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, USC Trojans, West Virginia Mountaineers, South Carolina Gamecocks, Wisconsin Badgers, Stanford Cardinal, Mississippi Rebels, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Ohio State Buckeyes, Vanderbilt Commodores, Syracuse Orange, Texas A&M Aggies, Virginia Tech Hokies, Washington Huskies, Arizona Wildcats, and Tennessee Volunteers.
That is a huge list of offers, and Williams’s visit to Ole Miss for two days will certainly be a crucial one in his recruitment. We’ll see if Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss can make a good early impression, especially since he had a great visit with Miami late last month. A day before that trip to Coral Gables, Williams took an unofficial to the Volunteers and also attended South Carolina’s junior day back in early February.
The fact that Williams is so wide open makes his recruitment so much more interesting, and every visit the top 150 recruit takes is one to watch closely. Ole Miss currently has the fifth best recruiting class in 2014, and it will be interesting to see if they recruit the four-star recruit harder. Williams, by the way, had a phenomenal junior season with insane numbers (60 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, and 18 sacks to underscore his pass rushing prowess).
