The Ohio State Buckeyes have been making quick work in the Class of 2014 and that trend continued on Monday as OSU locked up their seventh verbal commitment. The newest commitment for the Buckeyes came in the form of four-star outside linebacker Kyle Berger. Berger’s an Ohio native and is the 13th best recruit in the state.
He had received offers from the Ohio State Buckeyes, Arkansas Razorbacks, Boston College Eagles, Cincinnati Bearcats, Duke Blue Devils, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Illinois Fighting Illini, Maryland Terrapins, Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans, Northwestern Wildcats, Penn State Nittany Lions, Tennessee Volunteers, UCLA Bruins, and West Virginia Mountaineers.
At this moment, OSU’s recruiting class is ranked 8th in the entire nation and first in the Big Ten. The two teams directly behind them in the Big Ten rankings are Michigan and Michigan State (both offered at Berger).
When asked about the Buckeyes, Berger said:
It’s the perfect place for me. Unbelievable coaches, a great atmosphere, winning championships in the future, no better place.
As a junior, Berger recorded 44 tackles-for-loss and ten sacks.
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 19th in the state of Ohio and 25th among outside linebackers among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
