2014 four-star defensive back recruit Nicholas Ruffin received yet another major offer in his recruitment yesterday from the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the reported Alabama Crimson Tide lean is now up to 20 offers in his recruitment. Alabama, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the South Carolina Gamecocks are the three elite SEC programs that lead for Ruffin’s services. One of the top 200 recruits in the country, Ruffin just missed our FanSided 150 rankings. Ruffin is also interested in the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, LSU Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Mississippi Rebels, Vanderbilt Commodores, and Mississippi State Bulldogs.
The four-star CB/S has also received offers from the Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers, North Carolina Tar Heels, Duke Blue Devils, Wisconsin Badgers, Michigan State Spartans, Kentucky Wildcats, North Carolina State Wolfpack, and Kansas State Wildcats.
Nicholas Ruffin is one of the most heavily recruited prospects in the nation, and it will be interesting to see how much interest Urban Meyer and Ohio State show. They will have to compete hard in order to land Ruffin, because he is looking very closely at some of the top SEC programs out there in schools like Alabama and Georgia. Ruffin is from Atlanta, and he is firmly entrenched as one of the top 20 recruits in the state of Georgia.
The St. Pius X standout is 6’0″, 18o pounds, and he seems to be a better fit at cornerback than at safety. Ruffin is one of the top 15 CBs in the country, and he would be joined by another four-star CB in Detroit’s Damon Webb if he decides to commit to Ohio State. Webb did make our FanSided150 as the 64th-best recruit in the country, and the third-best prospect in the state of Michigan was definitely a huge catch for the Buckeyes. OSU has offered 27 DBs in the 2014 class, with essentially an even distribution between safeties and corners. Ruffin has already been identified as one of the Buckeyes top targets, so we’ll see where the recent offers takes them.
