Pac-12 Football Recruiting Roundup: USC, Oregon Ducks make rounds

2014 offensive tackle Tyrell Crosby has excellent size at 6’5″, 290 pounds, and he is set to take an unofficial visit to check out the Oregon Ducks today. Crosby is one of the top three recruits in the state of Nevada (at the very least in the top five), and he is a reported Oregon lean. The Ducks have a great opportunity to impress Crosby today, and he also has offers from other major Pac-12 schools like the Arizona State Sun Devils and two bitter Oregon rivals in the Oregon State Beavers and Washington Huskies. The three-star OT visited the Utah Utes earlier this month, and both Washington and Arizona State hosted him last month. When he visited Tempe, he actually received an offer from Todd Graham and the Sun Devils.

Adarius Pickett continues to see big offers roll in, and we documented his offer from the USC Trojans the last time we did a “Pac-12 Football Recruiting Roundup” feature last week. Yesterday, Pickett received two offers- one from a Pac-12 team in the Stanford Cardinal and the other from the Big Ten’s Purdue Boilermakers. One of the top 200 recruits in the country, Pickett is one of the top 15 CBs in the country and one of the top 20 recruits in the state of California. The El Cerrito standout’s Stanford offer comes just a handful of days after he attended the Cardinal’s junior day. He is reportedly high on the California Golden Bears, Washington, the USC Trojans, and the UCLA Bruins.

Pearce Slater is an underrated offensive tackle recruit from Torrance, California with ridiculous size at 6’8″, 315 pounds. He is reportedly looking for an offer from USC, and he currently has three offers from the Kansas Jayhawks, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Arizona State. Slater visited USC earlier this week, and we’ll see how things develop from the JUCO prospect.

Last week we wondered if  the Oregon Ducks would offer three-star running back Demario Richard and give the UCLA Bruins a real challenge at landing him, and lo and behold the Ducks offered earlier this week. That offer came two days after UCLA hosted Richard on an unofficial trip, and it seems like a big recruiting battle between the Ducks and Bruins for another RB out west.

Texas A&M, Ohio State, and Oklahoma are the three big programs driving hard after top 200 recruit Dallis Todd, and the elite wide receiver got an offer from the Pac-12’s Washington State Cougars earlier this week.

One of the top 15 recruits in the state of Arizona, three-star prospect Trevor Wood took an in-state visit to Arizona State earlier this week. Wood, however, seems to be interested in the rival Arizona Wildcats more, but ‘Zona has other teams to worry about other than ASU. The Boise State Broncos and UCLA Bruins are schools Wood is interested in, and Stanford could really make things interesting if they offer.

Nick Nordi has another excellent recruiting breakdown of a QB prospect offered by Washington State, and he evaluates David Cornwell’s tape on the WSU site All Coug’d Up. Cornwell is a big, strong QB who scored 34 touchdowns last season and is the 56th-best recruit in the 2014 class.

Our good friend Michael Castillo at Reign of Troy takes a look at Lane Kiffin’s latest recruiting pitch to try and get touted defensive back Adoree’ Jackson to USC, as Jackson tweeted out a photo that Kiffin sent him of a puzzle with a missing piece. Jackson is our 11th-rated recruit in the 2014 class, so you can bet Kiffin wants to throw the house at him.
