Miami Football Recruiting: Oklahoma offers DJ Williams

2014 defensive tackle DJ Williams is a prospect who will receive an explosion of offers in the near future, and he is actually starting to see this explosion start. The Miami Hurricanes became the first school to offer Williams back in late April, and the Oklahoma Sooners became the latest major offer for Williams just yesterday.

Although he only has two offers thus far, the offers from Miami and Oklahoma are huge ones and are just the beginning for Williams. He has received interest from the Texas Longhorns, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Baylor Bears, and it looks like Williams is set to receive plenty more in-state interest and some more in-state offers. Williams is a talented DT, and I have a feeling Williams has a strong chance of nabbing an offer from Texas. The Lufkin standout visited Texas in late March and is on their radar. He reportedly likes Texas, Baylor, and Texas Tech, per 247Sports.

DJ Williams has always been on Miami’s radar, as Jethro Franklin visited him on the day Miami decided to offer Williams. The 6’4″, 275 pound recruit is just Oklahoma’s seventh uncommitted prospect with an offer. The Sooners are going hard after Williams, too, as 247Sports has him as one of Oklahoma’s three “high choices” at the DT position. The others are elites Andrew Brown and Peyton Newell, with the Sooners also being in a good standing with Newell. Williams likes Oklahoma as well, and the Sooners are also high on four-star DT Garrald McDowell’s list.

Watch closely for more major offers handed to DJ Williams, and the fact that Williams is listed as one of their top choices next to guys like Brown (five stars) and Newell (four stars) speaks volumes to their thoughts on Williams and the talent that Williams has. Although he is not yet rated by most recruiting services, Williams could very well be a four-star recruit.
