The Northwestern Wildcats are set to host several top recruits today, and one of them is 2014 three-star outside linebacker Jimmie Swain. He is currently high on the Illinois Fighting Illini, TCU Horned Frogs, Iowa Hawkeyes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Michigan State Spartans, Missouri Tigers, Kansas Jayhawks, and Kansas State Wildcats.
Swain has also been offered by the Minnesota Golden Gophers, but it doesn’t seem like the Missouri prospect is as high on the Gophers as he is on the other programs that have offered. The offers Swain has collected thus far are very solid overall, and it will be interesting to see if the Northwestern Wildcats become the latest team to offer him. His visit to Northwestern today will be big for both Swain and the Wildcats, and they have shown interest in Swain to this point. Iowa and Kansas currently have lead recruiters involved in trying to bring Swain to their respective programs.
Ranked by the 247Composite as the 519th-best prospect in the country, Jimmie Swain has attended junior days at Kansas and Illinois. In fact, he received his offer from the Jayhawks during his junior day trip to Lawrence in late February. Since then, Swain has seen the offers roll in, and Nebraska’s John Garrison visited Swain just last month.
Nebraska looks like the team in the best position early on to land the 6’3″, 210 pound three-star OLB, but Missouri is also a team to watch for. The SEC squad would love to land one of the top five prospects in the state, and Swain is also viewed by many as one of the best 40 outside linebackers in the nation as well.
Northwestern has five uncommitted offers out to outside linebackers in the 2014 class, and they already landed a three-star OLB and top target in Cameron Queiro. They are also in a good standing with another top target of theirs at the position in three-star guy Chase Winovich. Outside linebacker is one of Northwestern’s priorities in this class, though, so they could offer another three-star guy at OLB. The Wildcats currently have one of the top 30 recruiting classes in the country with five commits.
