2015 defensive tackle Tim Settle is one of the most heavily recruited prospects in the 2015 class, and Settle will be high on the 2015 rankings once they are released. Yesterday, the Stonewall Jackson standout received a major SEC offer from the South Carolina Gamecocks, and he has had a dream start to the month of May with four big offers (two from the SEC and two from the Big Ten). The Alabama Crimson Tide kicked off the month with an offer, and then both the Wisconsin Badgers and Ohio State Buckeyes decided to extend offers to Settle a day later. Ohio State is in a great position early on, and the North Carolina Tar Heels are also in a solid position in Settle’s recruitment thus far.
The top Virginia recruit also has an offer from the in-state Virginia Cavaliers, and it is Anthony Poindexter who is responsible for trying to bring Settle to UVA. Alabama and Wisconsin figure to be prime factors in his recruitment as well, and it will be interesting to see which of the other elite programs will decide to offer Tim Settle next. The LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Virginia Tech Hokies, Maryland Terrapins, and Florida Gators are five such programs with interest.
Last month, the Michigan Wolverines checked in with Settle, and he also took an unofficial visit to Charlottesville last month. Settle also visited the Cavaliers in March, and he took a junior day visit to UNC in February. The Tar Heels were the first major program to be in on Settle, as they offered the DT just five days following the visit. UNC still remains in a very good position for the 6’2″, 295 pound DT who recorded 72 tackles last season for Stonewall Jackson.
Settle is one to watch closely, and more huge offers are set to come his way. He is a very disruptive presence on the interior, and this offer from South Carolina is absolutely huge. Overall, the Gamecocks have offered two 2015 DTs in CeCe Jefferson (from Florida) and Settle. Jefferson, by the way, is an Alabama lean (Settle is also high on ‘Bama), and he has high interest in the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, and Louisville Cardinals. The USC Trojans could also make things interesting for Jefferson with an offer, but it looks like Alabama has the best shot of moving Jefferson out of Florida (he visited the Gators and ‘Noles last month).
