Elite 2014 four-star quarterback Kyle Allen is visiting the Wisconsin Badgers on an unofficial trip today, and Allen was selected to the Elite 11 competition just yesterday. Arguably the best recruit in the state of Arizona, Allen checks in as the 76th-best player in our FanSided 150 rankings. Allen is also viewed by some as one of the best five pro-style quarterbacks in the country, and the four-star QB is a reported UCLA Bruins lean. Of the four analysts who made their predictions on 247Sports, only J.C. Shurburtt has a team other than UCLA nabbing Allen- Shurburtt’s pick is the Arizona State Sun Devils. In addition to showing high interest in UCLA, Allen also reportedly likes the Ohio State Buckeyes, Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Texas A&M Aggies, West Virginia Mountaineers, California Golden Bears, and Oklahoma State Cowboys. Of those major programs, only Cal has not offered the top pro-style QB.
Kyle Allen has received plenty of interest from other schools as well with other offers from the Wisconsin Badgers, Colorado Buffaloes, Mississippi Rebels, Duke Blue Devils, Boise State Broncos, and North Carolina Tar Heels. It will be interesting to see if Wisconsin can gain some ground in Allen’s recruitment with a good enough visit, because both Bill Busch and Andy Ludwig are trying to recruit Kyle Allen to Madison.
Cal would make things interesting with an offer, and I think the Golden Bears would like to try and make things difficult for the UCLA Bruins, who are in the best position to land Allen. The 6’3″, 185 pound Desert Mountain star from Scottsdale, Arizona is also being heavily pursued by the two big in-state programs and elite schools like Ohio State and Notre Dame. Allen had a very busy April with visits to UCLA, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma State. Coaches from Ohio State, A&M, and even the Alabama Crimson Tide checked in with the star signal-caller.
The team that lands Allen would be getting a quarterback with excellent leadership, technique, and composure, and those are just fringe benefits to the pinpoint accuracy and solid arm that Allen brings to the table. There is no doubt that Allen is one of the elite quarterback prospects in the nation, and Wisconsin would love to be among the top teams for Allen’s services.
After doing a great job at Chicago, Kyle Allen is a well-deserved Elite 11 finalist and only recently received those major offers this past week from schools like Ohio State and Notre Dame. More will be coming for the top UCLA target, who is backing up his numbers for Desert Mountain last season. As a junior, Allen tossed 36 touchdowns to just seven interceptions and was also able to throw for a total of 3,200 yards in an excellent campaign.
