Touted four-star 2014 Phoenix, Arizona power forward Zylan Cheatham received the 13th offer in his recruitment yesterday from the Oregon Ducks, and this is just the latest Pac-12 offer for Cheatham. He was offered late last month by the USC Trojans, but it will be interesting to see if the big in-state power in the Arizona Wildcats decides to offer the top 20 PF.
Cheatham has received offers from the Memphis Tigers, Arizona State Sun Devils, Utah Utes, USC, Oregon State Beavers, Purdue Boilermakers, California Golden Bears, Colorado Buffaloes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Texas Longhorns. I would be surprised if Arizona doesn’t join the mix at some point, because Cheatham is undoubtedly one of the top 100 recruits in the country.
Oregon has now offered two power forwards in the 2014 class, as the Ducks first offer went out to Minneapolis star Reid Travis, who is a four-star recruit and another top 20 power forward. Travis is actually rated just above Cheatham, but they are both pretty close in terms of overall talent.
Cheatham is one of the top three recruits in the state of Arizona, and he is ranked by the 247Composite as the 80th-best recruit in the country. The 6’7″, 200 pound Westwind Preparatory Academy star is picking up more and more offers, and the Oregon offer is just the most recent one in what has been a spree of offers. The Washington Huskies have also reportedly offered Cheatham, and that’s a huge offer for the California Supreme star. Cheatham visited both Arizona and Arizona State in February, and it will be interesting to see how ASU stands for him. His recruitment is going to be one of the most heated in the Pac-12, as several teams in the conference have offers out for the four-star prize, and there are several rivalries at play (like Oregon vs. Oregon State).
