Arkansas Football Recruiting: UCF offers Edgar Cerenord

2014 three-star Fort Lauderdale defensive tackle Edgar Cerenord picked up an in-state offer today from the UCF Knights, and he continues to have a scorching month of May with a bevy of recent offers. Just yesterday, the Toledo Rockets offered Cerenord, and he received a major offer from the Big Ten-bound Rutgers Scarlet Knights the day before. On the 8th and 7th of the month, the Indiana Hoosiers and East Carolina Pirates offered Cerenord, respectively. Cerenord’s first offer in the month of May came from the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, and I’m sure more offers will follow for the solid Florida DT.

Cerenord also holds offers from the Arkansas Razorbacks and Cincinnati Bearcats, and he has also received interest from some major programs. Miami, Penn State, Michigan State, and West Virginia have all expressed interest in Cerenord, but Arkansas remains Cerenord’s biggest offer.

Rated by the 247Composite as the 652nd-best recruit in the country overall, the 2014 DT is one of the top 100 recruits in the talent-rich state of Florida, and Cerenord should also be regarded as a top 50 defensive tackle. The 6’2″, 295 pound America Heritage star is being recruited to Arkansas by Charlie Partridge, and it looks like they are in a good position in his recruitment. UCF is the biggest in-state offer for Cerenord thus far, but I think an offer from the in-area Miami Hurricanes would lead to a commitment from Cerenord.

UCF has now offered four defensive tackles in the 2014 class, with in-state, Hollywood, Florida four-star DT prospect Khairi Clark being UCF’s top target at the position. It is impossible to envision the Miami-lean picking UCF, especially since he has offers from schools like Alabama, Georgia, and a truly big in-state school in the Florida Gators. Miami will almost definitely land Clark, who is an elite DT prospect and one of the best ten recruits in the state of Florida. The strong DT is our 35th-best prospect in the nation, and he is Miami’s to lose. What will be interesting is if Miami joins UCF with an offer for Cerenord to completely change the complexion of the three-star’s recruitment.
