The Virginia Tech Hokies decided to join their bitter in-state rivals, the Virginia Cavaliers, an extend an offer to elite 2016 prospect Scott Bracey. Virginia Tech is just the latest major offer for Bracey, who has already put himself on the map as a star player in Virginia’s capital, and he will undoubtedly be a highly touted recruit. It’s extremely early (class of 2016…no kidding), but Bracey is already picking up offers at a high rate.
The South Carolina Gamecocks, Clemson Tigers,Washington State Cougars, and Marshall Thundering Herd are the three other schools to have offered Bracey, so he is currently up to six offers and will one day receive offers from storied programs. Virginia Tech’s offer is pretty big for Bracey, considering the Hokies stature in the state of Virginia.
Bracey is a 6’3″, 190 pound star for the renowned Benedictine High, and he already has blazing speed with a 4.5 forty. An elite running back, Bracey is being recruited to Virginia Tech by Shane Beamer, while South Carolina’s primary recruiter for Bracey is Deke Adams. South Carolina’s offer came just four days ago, while Washington State’s offer came just last month. In fact, Bracey received his offer from South Carolina when Adams dropped in on Benedictine on Tuesday and decided to extend an offer to Bracey.
It is early, but the Virginia Tech offer only confirms to us that Bracey’s recruitment is one to watch very closely, especially if you are a Hokies or Cavaliers fan. This could really shape up to be a great recruiting battle between in-state rivals over an elite in-state running back (with a pair of rivals in the state of South Carolina also going at it), but the big boys could eventually change that.
