Arizona State Sun Devils lean Demario Richard is one of the top running backs in the 2014 recruiting class, and he has received plenty of interest from the Pac-12 schools in the region. In addition to being high on Arizona State, Richard also has interest in the Oregon Ducks, UCLA Bruins, and a team outside of the region in the West Virginia Mountaineers. Oregon is the premier university for running back recruits, and their offer was huge. However, a great visit today from one of Oregon’s biggest rivals in the Washington Huskies would also be big in Richard’s recruitment, and so the Huskies will be looking to impress. Both experts who made their picks on 247Sports have Arizona State landing Richard, so it’s going to be a tough battle for the Huskies.
Richard is a 5’10”, 195 pound three-star RB at Highland High in Palmdale, California, and the 247Composite ranks Richard as the 410th-best recruit in the nation. One of the top 30 running backs, Richard is also rated by the 247Composite as the 43th-best recruit in the state of California, and it is a ranking that Richard definitely deserves.
Washington is hosting Richard just two days after Richard camped with the Arizona State Sun Devils, and he will be heading to visit another school high on his list in Oregon in two days. This is a big chance for the rival Ducks and Huskies to better their odds in Richard’s recruitment, but Arizona State has been in the lead for quite some time. Oregon and UCLA look like the best bets to land Richard outside of the Sun Devils, because it seems like Washington has slipped a bit. However, they are still in the running and have a fair shot at landing the explosive RB.
