2014 three-star running back Vic Enwere cut his list down to seven finalists yesterday, and he will be making his college decision today among the Michigan State Spartans, Virginia Cavaliers, Kansas State Wildcats, Colorado Buffaloes, Missouri Tigers, California Golden Bears, and SMU Mustangs. It is an interesting list, especially because SMU managed to make the cut and is the only in-state school in Enwere’s finalists. It was a surprise to see the Michigan Wolverines eliminated, so this could be a big get at the running back position for the rival Michigan State Spartans. The Minnesota Golden Gophers, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, and Utah Utes were three other cuts of note from Enwere, and his top seven looks wide open and hotly contested.
Gun up to my head, my pick for Enwere’s decision today would be the Michigan State Spartans, but I wouldn’t feel good about it since things are so wide open. His cut was, again, an interesting one, based on the schools he left out. But it’s definitely a solid group of finalists, with Michigan State being my pick.
Enwere had an excellent junior season for Fort Bend Austin with over 1,500 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns, so the Sugar Land, Texas prospect made it on several all-district and all-state teams. Per 247Sports, Enwere was also his district’s Offensive MVP, and he certainly was valuable for Fort Bend Austin with over 1,500 rushing yards.
The 6’1″, 210 pound prospect ran a 4.61 forty with an incredible 41-inch vertical at the Nike SPARQ in Houston, and Enwere is one of the most athletic players in the state of Texas. He is locked in as the 65th-best running back in the country per the 247Composite, and he is also ranked by the 247Composite as the 881st-best recruit overall and the 107th-best prospect in the state of Texas. Today’s decision is definitely one to watch for closely, as major programs like Kansas State and MSU are involved, and it seems like every school in the final cut has a good shot.
