The Ohio State Buckeyes will be hosting one of Chicagoland’s finest recruits today in four-star offensive tackle Jamarco Jones, and the Buckeyes are in an excellent position to further impress Jones, who is already regarded as an Ohio State lean. But the Buckeyes still have to beat out Big Ten rivals in the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans in order to secure Jones’s pledge, and it is a tough three-way recruiting battle between bitter conference rivals. Jones is tabbed by a whopping, unanimous 27 247Sports recruiting experts to commit to the Ohio State Buckeyes, so Urban Meyer already has a lot going for him coming into this visit.
Jones will be making his decision on the 27th of June with Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State as his final three schools, and Ohio State is definitely most people’s pick to land Jones. Today’s visit it huge for both Jones and the Buckeyes, as it could seal things for Ohio State going into Jones’s decision later in the month of June. OSU gets the last say too, as Jones is fresh off of his Spartans visit yesterday and also took a trip to Michigan the day before on Saturday. The Under Armour All-America bowl invitee also visited Michigan and Michigan State back in early April.
Ranked as the 55th-best recruit in our FanSided 150 rankings, Jamarco Jones truly is an elite offensive tackle prospect and has all the tools to be a star at the collegiate level. Jones would be an immediate impact recruit for any of these three Big Ten schools, and he is one of the top five tackles in the class and one of the top three prospects in the state of Illinois- a state that seems to get richer every recruiting class.
The high-end four-star prospect’s decision is highly anticipated, and this is last of his visits to his final three schools, and it is likely the most important visit with Ohio State being the favorites to land Jones. The 6’5″, 290 pound De La Salle Institute standout has the total package and is great at everything, but he is particularly elite as a run blocker.
