2014 four-star Corona, California cornerback John Plattenburg Jr. named his top ten yesterday, and the Oregon Ducks, Wisconsin Badgers, Washington Huskies, UCLA Bruins, Boise State Broncos, Baylor Bears, California Golden Bears, Vanderbilt Commodores, Oregon State Beavers, and Arizona State Sun Devils made the cut. Pac-12 programs are well-represented in Plattenburg’s top ten, and there are also schools across the country in Wisconsin and Vanderbilt that made the list. Oregon, Oregon State, and Washington comprise a three-way rivalry that should be watched closely, and the Ducks recent offer earlier this month was definitely huge in Plattenburg’s recruitment.
It seems like Plattenburg is leaning towards the UCLA Bruins, as three recruiting analysts picked UCLA to land Plattenburg, while one chose the Washington Huskies as the team to secure a commitment from one of the top 300 recruits in the nation. Plattenburg is a top 25 cornerback, and the athlete is also ranked by the 247Composite as the 31st-best recruit in the state of California.
Plattenburg is 5’11″, 187 pounds and has been showcasing his instincts and quickness well as the Oakland NFTC MVP, and he should also have a strong performance as an invite to the prestigious “The Opening” in Beaverton, Oregon. This is one cornerback recruit to keep close tabs on, and the teams in his top ten are in a good position. He’s been even better after moving from Houston, and it will be interesting to see how these teams stack up in the top ten. Watch for Oregon closely, as they might be the biggest program in his top ten and only offered recently.
