2014 four-star weak-side defensive end recruit Keyon Brown stated late last month that the Georgia Bulldogs are the leaders in his recruitment, and that hasn’t changed according to Scout.com. FOX Sports NEXT recruiting analyst Amy Campbell tweeted that Georgia leads for Brown, but that Brown has also released a top three that also includes the Clemson Tigers and Florida State Seminoles. She also added that Brown will be visiting Georgia this month.
Georgia offered Brown back in early March, and Brown named a school ten days later as his leader. But this leader wasn’t Georgia at the time, it was the Miami Hurricanes. Miami is still actively pursuing Brown, but they aren’t in his top three. In fact, the rival Florida State Seminoles made the cut and Miami didn’t, which is very interesting indeed. Even as recently as early April, Miami looked like the best bet, as Gerry Hamilton predicted the ‘Canes for Brown on the 7th of April.
Keyon Brown is the 117th-best recruit in our FanSided 150 rankings, so he would definitely be a big get. He is ranked by Scout as the 20th-best defensive end in the country, while 247Sports narrows him down to 11th among just WDEs. In my opinion, Brown is one of the top 15 recruits in the talent-rich state of Florida, and he is just such an explosive player with mouth-watering athleticism. Brown is easily one of the top 150 recruits in the country, and the Hardee Senior’s 6’4″, 235 pound frame is something to behold.
The offers continue to pour in for Brown, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brown updating his list more often to reflect the teams going after him. Georgia continues to be in a great position to land the elite Florida DE, but it is interesting to see that Clemson quietly made the top three cut.
