2014 three-star Dwyer High safety recruit Shawn Boone received a Big Ten offer yesterday from the Maryland Terrapins, who have now put the hats in the proverbial ring of Boone’s recruitment and will look to battle it out with other top programs for Boone’s signature. Boone currently has no leans early on, but he has a nice list of offers to work with as one of the top 80 safety recruits in the country.
Shawn Boone holds offers from the Boston College Eagles, Arkansas Razorbacks, Florida State Seminoles, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Indiana Hoosiers, N.C. State Wolfpack, Iowa State Cyclones, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Washington State Cougars, Ohio State Buckeyes, Tennessee Volunteers, Syracuse Orange, West Virginia Mountaineers, Mississippi Rebels, and Purdue Boilermakers. Major programs have lined up with their offers, and today’s offer from Maryland certainly does give the rising three-star safety more to consider.
In two days, Boone will have a big opportunity to showcase his talents at one of the biggest camps in the country, as he will be in Columbus, Ohio on Friday to camp with the Ohio State Buckeyes. The standout at the prestigious Dwyer High in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, already has an Ohio State offer, but a big camp day there could ramp up interest from the Buckeyes and even from other teams; it would also aid OSU in their pursuit of the safety.
The 5’10″, 185 pound prospect is ranked by the 247Composite as the 134th-best player in the state of Florida, and he is also one of the top 1000 recruits overall. It seems like Boone is being recruited the hardest by Arkansas and Indiana, and it will be interesting to see how hard the Terps go after him.
