UPDATE: KEEGAN RENDER HAS COMMITTED TO THE IOWA HAWKEYES.
The Iowa Hawkeyes are hosting a solid in-state guard prospect on a junior day visit today in three-star Indianola standout Keegan Render, who is reportedly leaning towards the Iowa Hawkeyes. However, Iowa is in a big recruiting battle for Render with the rival Iowa State Cyclones, and this is one in-state recruiting fight to watch for closely. Render certainly isn’t the best prospect around, but he is a pretty good guard and has taken many visits to both Iowa and Iowa State. Today’s junior day visit to the Hawkeyes puts Render on commitment watch, in my opinion, so it’s time to watch this closely. I would, however, expect Render to take things slow and try to rack up some more offers; there are several schools interested.
Iowa and Iowa State are definitely the two schools in the best position to land Render, and my money would be on Iowa to end up landing Render in the end. Render currently has three offers in his recruitment, with the third coming from a small school in Northern Illinois. The Kansas State Wildcats, Duke Blue Devils, Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans, Missouri Tigers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, UCLA Bruins, Wisconsin Badgers, Stanford Cardinal, Minnesota Golden Gophers, and Nebraska Cornhuskers are among the major programs that have shown some interest.
The 247Composite ranks Render as the sixth-best prospect in the state of Iowa, thus making him a more important three-star catch at the guard position for both the Hawkeyes and Cyclones. Render is also viewed by the 247Composite as the 67th-best guard in the country, and the 6’4″, 300 pound OG should be regarded as an Iowa lean despite also having major interest in Iowa State.
Render will now have taken his second junior day visit to Iowa after also unofficially visiting the school in April, while Iowa State has also hosted Render on a junior day visit and on two other visits in the spring.
