Boise State Football Recruiting: Broncos Land Shay Fields

After extending him an offer to him nearly a month ago, the Boise State Broncos landed a quality wide receiver from the Class of 2014 on Sunday as Shay Fields made the call and committed to the Broncos. Fields is a three-star recruit and is ranked as one of the Top 80 recruits in the state of California.

Boise State now has eight commitments from the Class of 2014 and five commitments from the state of California.

The other teams that offered at Fields, but did not get his commitment were the Hawaii Warriors, Idaho Vandals, Nevada Wolfpack, and San Jose State Spartans.

Shay Fields contains a number of skills on the football field. His best skills are his hands, ball skills, route running, change of direction, and his ability to rack up yards after the catch. However, Fields’ best skill is his agility.

He is a quick wide receiver who uses his agility in combination with his ability to change directions. After watching his game film from his junior season, it looked like he was playing games with defenders by turning them around with how quickly he would change direction.

In 2012, Fields recorded 576 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 25 receptions. He also racked up 85 rushing yards on five attempts.

The three-star recruit is currently ranked 79th in the state of California and 119th among wide receivers by 247Sports.
