The UCLA Bruins were able to pick up a commitment yesterday from three-star Junipero Serra wide receiver standout Jordan Lasley, who is currently ranked by the 247Composite as the 130th-best recruit in the state of California. UCLA was predicted by two 247Sports experts to land Lasley, and UCLA was able to lock up Lasley’s commitment just one day after offering him.
Lasley chose UCLA over offers from the Boise State Broncos, Indiana Hoosiers, San Diego State Aztecs, Utah Utes, and the Nevada Wolfpack. Several major programs had interest in the three-star wideout, but only seven schools decided to extend offers to this point. The in-state offer from UCLA was huge for Lasley, and the fact that he immediately committed to UCLA after building a good rapport with Indiana was telling for the Bruins program.
The Bruins decided to give Lasley the offer on Friday after his standout performance at the Bruins Elite camp, and Lasley proved himself to the school and definitely deserved the offer. It was no surprise to see that he accepted the Bruins offer, and UCLA currently has five commitments in the class after the camp standout’s pledge. The interesting thing is that three of the commits are wide receivers, while the other two are offensive tackles (the two tackles are two of the best JUCO prospects in the country).
Throughout the spring, Jordan Lasley has been a standout at various camps, and he is the proof of why team camps are the most important. If you can impress a school like UCLA, then you can get the big offer you covet and end up at the school of your choice. Lasley is ranked by the 247Composite as the 159th-best wide receiver in the country, and UCLA seems like a great fit for him, with location probably being the biggest reason.
