Although just a rising sophomore, DeMatha Catholic star Tino Ellis already has three major offers in his recruitment after the Rutgers Scarlet Knights decided to extend an offer to the 2016 wide receiver yesterday. The Hyattsville, Maryland prospect already has a major in-state offer from the Maryland Terrapins, and the Virginia Tech Hokies have also offered Ellis. Aaron Moorehead is busy trying to recruit Ellis to VT, and he should continue to receive plenty of offers from the ACC and throughout the region. Virginia Tech was on to Ellis before he even went into high school, while Maryland has had the in-state wideout on its radar for a bit. Rutgers offer just entrenches Ellis as a top prospect in the 2016 class.
Storied programs have already taken note of Ellis, as the Michigan Wolverines and Florida Gators are two of the big schools checking in on Tino Ellis. The USC Trojans, Pittsburgh Panthers, and Penn State Nittany Lions have also shown interest, and we’ll see if PSU and Pitt decide to become his next early offers as other schools in the region.
Ellis is 6’1″, 185 pounds, and he is yet another example of how early the recruitment of top prospects is starting. He has just come out of his freshman year, and he already holds three offers and interest from some of the biggest programs in the country. The cousin of a Virginia Tech CB, Ellis is one of the elite young prospects around and could be the next big star to come out of DeMatha. Ellis, who camped at VT last year, has incredible speed, and it will be interesting to see if he can showcase his elite skills at more camps across the country. DeMatha is filled with excellent prospect, and Ellis is just the latest.
