On Thursday, 2014 four-star offensive tackle Jamarco Jones committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Jones’ commitment marks the 14th verbal commitment for Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes. Jamarco Jones is the 55th best prospect on the Fansided150 Class for 2014 Football Recruiting Rankings and is the second-best prospect from the state of Illinois.
It was a battle between Big Ten teams for the services of Jamarco Jones and Urban Meyer delivered yet again like he has been all offseason. Jones’ three finalists were the Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan State Spartans, and Michigan Wolverines.
It should be no surprise that Jones chose to commit to OSU because all 36 recruiting experts on 247Sports picked Ohio State as the team to land the Chicago native.
Jamarco Jones is one of the best blockers in the Class of 2014, but nothing is better than his run blocking ability. Overall, he has all the tools to be an effective OT in Columbus for quite some time.
Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes are putting together one of the better recruiting classes for the Class of 2014.
Right now, the Buckeyes are in the Top 5 in the entire nation and are the best ranked class in the Big Ten. The only reason I can think of to why Ohio State is still behind Bama and Texas A&M has to be that the Buckeyes do not have a five-star prospect to their name (yet).
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 2nd in the state of Illinois, 5th among offensive tackles, and 43rd among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
