Rutgers Football Recruiting: Kiy Hester Picks Scarlet Knights

On June 27th, Fansided150′s own Joe Soriano mentioned how 2014 four-star safety Kiy Hester had a new top seven which included the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Vanderbilt Commodores, Miami Hurricanes, North Carolina Tar Heels, Michigan State Spartans, Virginia Cavaliers, and Ohio State Buckeyes. Just two days later, Hester announced which team he was committing to.

Who was the team that landed Kiy Hester on Friday? Well, that would be the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The Scarlet Knights picked up their 20th commitment from the Class of 2014 and are beginning to make some headway in the 2014 team rankings. As of Friday night, Rutgers has moved into the Top 20 overall and is still 2nd in the AAC (American Athletic Conference).

It should be no surprise that the New Jersey prospect chose to commit to Rutgers. The 247 Sports Crystal Ball had the Scarlet Knights as the 100% predicted spot to land the 2014 recruit.

Hester has great size for the safety position and is a good all-around DB who contains a number of skills like speed, athleticism, explosiveness, versatility, and intangibles.

The four-star recruit is currently ranked 11th in the state of New Jersey and 29th among safeties by 247Sports.
