Florida Basketball Recruiting: Gators Land Brandone Francis

On June 27th, 2014 five-star point guard Brandone Francis committed to the Florida Gators. Francis’ commitment marks the second verbal commitment for Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators from the Class of 2014. Not only is Brandone Francis one of the top 25 prospects in the nation, but is also in the top 10 among PGs and the top 5 in the state of Florida.

The other teams that offered at Francis, but did not get his commitment were the Cincinnati Bearcats, Connecticut Huskies, Florida State Seminoles, Illinois Fighting Illini, Indiana Hoosiers, Kansas State Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, Miami Hurricanes, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Ole Miss Rebels, USC Trojans, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Washington Huskies.

It should be no surprise that the Florida prospect chose to commit to the Gators. This is because all thirteen experts on 247 Sports tabbed as the team to land a commitment from the Florida Gators.

Francis is listed as a point guard, but can also effectively play at the 2-guard. For a combo guard, he shows tremendous size at 6’5″. He can defend, shoot, penetrate, rebound, and shows great athleticism, but his best skills are his passing ability and his ability to finish at the rim.

The five-star recruit is currently ranked 2nd in the state of Florida, 6th among point guards, and 21st among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
