On Tuesday, 2014 four-star wide receiver Artavis Scott committed to the Clemson Tigers. Scott’s commitment marks the 15th verbal commitment for the Tigers. He is the 77th best prospect on the Fansided150 Class for 2014 Football Recruiting Rankings and is the 14th best prospect from the state of Florida.
Scott had numerous offers from across the country. Some of the most notable ones were from the Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Louisville Cardinals, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma Sooners, Ole Miss Rebels, Oregon Ducks, Tennessee Volunteers, UCLA Bruins, and Virginia Tech Hokies.
Its no surprise that Artavis Scott chose to commit to Clemson because 33 of the 34 recruiting experts on 247Sports’ Crystal Ball picked Clemson as the team to land the Florida native.
Scott is the definition of “solid” at the WR position. Just like Clemson commit Damarre Kitt, Artavis Scott has the hands, ball skills, and route running ability that you’d want in a wide receiver.
His only downsides are his size and speed. At 5’10”, Scott isn’t a player that will burn you down the sideline for a big play. I expect Scott to make a living over the middle with his route running ability for Clemson in the future.
As a junior in 2012, Scott recorded 995 receiving yards on 64 receptions and ten receiving touchdowns. He also recorded 122 rushing yards on thirteen attempts and one rushing touchdown.
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 14th in the state of Florida, 20th among wide receivers, and 129th among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
