On July 8th, 2014 four-star dual-threat quarterback Treon Harris committed to the Florida State Seminoles. His commitment marked the 18th verbal commitment for the Seminoles. He is the 133rd best prospect on the Fansided150 Class for 2014 Football Recruiting Rankings and is the 24th best prospect from the state of Florida.
The other teams that offered at Harris, but did not get his commitment were the Arizona Wildcats, Boston College Eagles, Clemson Tigers, Florida International Panthers, Florida Gators, Illinois Fighting Illini, Louisville Cardinals, Marshall Thundering Herd, Miami Hurricanes, Mississippi State Bulldogs, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Ole Miss Rebels, Penn State Nittany Lions, South Carolina Gamecocks, South Florida Bulls, Central Florida Knights, and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
Some experts see this commitment by Treon Harris to FSU as a bit of a shocker. This is because most experts thought he was going to verbally commit to Miami (FL). The 247 Sports Crystal Ball had the Seminoles as a 33% predicted destination for the 2014 Florida prospect.
In the end, Harris’ commitment is HUGE for the Florida State Seminoles. Because of this commitment, FSU is currently has the 2nd best recruiting class overall (moving up six spots) and the best recruiting class in the ACC for the 2014 recruiting class.
As a junior in 2012, Harris recorded 2,587 passing yards, 751 rushing yards, 35 passing touchdowns, and fifteen rushing touchdowns.
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 24th in the state of Florida, 20th among athletes, and 227th among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
