The UCLA Bruins extended an offer to one of the top prospects in the state of Indiana from the Class of 2014 in four-star Carmel standout Austin Roberts. On top of being one of the top Indiana prospects, Roberts is also ranked 180th in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
So far, Roberts has received notable offers from the Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, Miami Hurricanes, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Illinois Fighting Illini, Indiana Hoosiers, Kentucky Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, Maryland Terrapins, Michigan State Spartans, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Northwestern Wildcats, Stanford Cardinal, Tennessee Volunteers, USC Trojans, and Virginia Tech Hokies.
Some might think that the race for Roberts is a three team race (with a surprise fourth), but the majority of the recruiting experts are predicting the Buckeyes to land this 2014 recruit.
Right now, 22 out of the 24 recruiting experts on the 247 Sports Crystal Ball have Roberts committing to Ohio State.
Because of this, UCLA will have a long road ahead of them if they want a chance at landing Austin Roberts’ commitment. Even if Roberts doesn’t end up committing to Ohio State, there are some pretty major programs high on his list (Bama, USC, and Miami).
The 6’3″, 217 pound WR should continue to see big offers flow in. Roberts has the size, speed, change of direction, and agility that any major football program would want. The only aspect of his game that needs development is his hand. If he can improve his hand at the college level, Roberts will be a quality option for any Division I team.
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 3rd in the state of Indiana and 32nd among wide receivers by 247Sports.
