On Monday, the Alabama Crimson Tide hosted the 3rd best prospect from the state of Indiana as 2014 wide receiver Austin Roberts attended the Crimson Tide’s camp. On top of being one of the top Indiana prospects, Roberts is also ranked 180th in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
So far, Roberts has received notable offers from the Ohio State Buckeyes,Alabama Crimson Tide, Miami Hurricanes, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Illinois Fighting Illini, Indiana Hoosiers, Kentucky Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals,Maryland Terrapins, Michigan State Spartans, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Northwestern Wildcats, Stanford Cardinal,Tennessee Volunteers, USC Trojans, UCLA Bruins, and Virginia Tech Hokies.
Some use to think that the race for Roberts was a three team race (with a surprise fourth), but now the majority of the recruiting experts are predicting the Bruins to land this 2014 recruit.
Right now, 15 out of the 27 recruiting experts on the 247 Sports Crystal Ball have Roberts committing to UCLA over Ohio State.
Monday’s visits has turned into a very important one for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Before receiving an offer from UCLA, many were predicting Bama as one of the teams to land Roberts. It might be hard to believe, but Nick Saban will need to do some heavy work in order sway Roberts over to the Tide.
Roberts has the size, speed, change of direction, and agility that any major football program would want.
The only aspect of his game that needs development is his hand. If he can improve his hand at the college level, Roberts will be a quality option for any Division I team.
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 3rd in the state of Indiana and 32nd among wide receivers by 247Sports.
