Florida State Football Recruiting: Dexter Wideman Picks Seminoles

After unofficially visiting them on July 17th, 2014 defensive tackle Dexter Wideman chose to give the Florida State Seminoles his verbal commitment on Monday. Wideman is among the top 15 defensive tackles from the 2014 class and is ranked 144th on the FanSided150 Class of 2014 Football Rankings.

The other teams that offered at Wideman, but did not get his commitment were the Clemson Tigers, Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, and South Carolina Gamecocks.

Many recruiting experts see this commitment by Dexter Wideman to FSU as a bit of a shocker. This is because most of the experts on the 247 Sports Crystal Ball thought he was going to verbally commit to South Carolina.

Wideman is a solid pickup for the Seminoles at the defensive tackle position. He’s a strong athletic DT with a high motor and is explosive on the football field. The only thing he will need to work on at the college level will be his first step and his hand quickness.

Dexter Wideman’s commitment is No. 22 overall for the Seminoles and moves their class to 2nd overall in the 247 Sports class rankings.

The four-star recruit is currently ranked 5th in the state of South Carolina, 13th among defensive tackles, and 149th among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
