On Sunday, 2014 strong-side defensive end Malik McDowell made the trip to Ann Arbor to unofficially visit the Michigan Wolverines for their BBQ Weekend. McDowell is among the top 5 strong-side defensive ends from the 2014 class and is ranked 24th on the FanSided150 Class of 2014 Football Rankings.

So far, the Detroit, MI native has received a lot of notable offers, but is heavily interested in the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans.

Right now, the Wolverines seems to be the favorite among the recruiting experts because all 25 experts on the 247 Sports Crystal Ball has them earning McDowell’s verbal commitment.

Malik McDowell would be an absolutely amazing pickup for the Wolverines. At 6’9″, 290 pounds, he has amazing size and frame. He is also athletic and contains good closing speed, pursuit of the football, and hand quickness.

His only weak spot is his ability at the point of attack, but that can be developed in college.

The four-star recruit is currently ranked 1st in the state of Michigan, 3rd among strong-side defensive ends, and 44th among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
