After announcing the UCLA Bruins as his leader in late June, 2014 offensive guard Demetrius Knox might have surprised a few people after he gave his verbal commitment to Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday. Knox is among the top 10 offensive guard from the 2014 class and is ranked 107th on the FanSided150 Class of 2014 Football Rankings.
The other teams that offered at Knox, but did not get his commitment were the Florida Gators, UCLA Bruins, Florida State Seminoles, Alabama Crimson Tide, Baylor Bears, Louisville Cardinals, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Michigan Wolverines, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Ole Miss Rebels, Oregon Ducks, TCU Horned Frogs, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Washington Huskies.
It should come as a surprise to some that Demetrius Knox choose to play for Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He might have named UCLA as his leader, but 11 out of the 22 recruiting experts on 247Sports’ Crystal Ball picked the Buckeyes to gain his commitment.
The Fort Worth, TX native is a solid pickup for OSU at offensive guard. At 6’3″, 290 pounds, Knox is an offensive guard with great size and contains very good feet and body quickness. He also has pretty good strength, lateral movement, and punch while being a decent run and pass blocker.
Knox’s commitment is No. 15 overall for the Buckeyes and moves their class to 6th overall in the 247 Sports class rankings. OSU’s class also ranks 9th in the nation, according to Rivals.com.
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 17th in the state of Texas, 10th among offensive guards, and 135th among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
