On Thursday, 2014 defensive tackle Matt Elam cut his final list to six schools. The schools in his top six are the Kentucky Wildcats, Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee Volunteers, Louisville Cardinals, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Elam is ranked 88th on the FanSided150 Class of 2014 Football Rankings.
There should be no surprise that Kentucky was one of the teams to make Elam’s top six list.
This is because 18 out of the 25 recruiting experts on the 247 Sports Crystal Ball are predicting that the Elizabethtown, KY native will stay in-state to play for Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats.
At 6’6″, 350 pounds, Matt Elam has impeccable size for the defensive tackle position. He also is strong, athletic, and explosive, and contains a great first step and hand quickness.
Elam has a official visit scheduled with Alabama for December 13th.
The five-star recruit is currently ranked 1st in the state of Kentucky, 2nd among defensive tackles, and 10th among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
