Shortly after the clock hit 8:00 p.m. CST on Sunday, 2014 inside linebacker Nyles Morgan cut his final list to six schools. The schools in his top six are the Tennessee Volunteers, Vanderbilt Commodores, Ole Miss Rebels, Florida Gators, Texas A&M Aggies, and the Michigan State Spartans. Morgan is ranked 58th on the FanSided150 Class of 2014 Football Rankings.
There should be no surprise that Vandy was one of the teams to make Morgan’s top six list.
This is because 10 out of the 17 recruiting experts on the 247 Sports Crystal Ball are predicting that the Crete, IL native will end up giving his verbal to the Commodores.
At 6’2″, 228 pounds, Morgan has pretty good size for the linebacker position. He is also very athletic, and shows good instincts and quickness on the field. Among all, his best skills would be his tackling and striking abilities.
The only weak spot in his game would have to be how he plays in space, but that can be developed easily at the next level.
It will be interesting to see how the rest of Nyles Morgan’s recruitment plays out, but a team to watch will be Ole Miss.
Not only did the Rebels have the top recruiting class a year ago, but one of those players from the 2013 class was a former teammate of Morgan at Crete-Monee (WR Laquon Treadwell).
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 3rd in the state of Illinois, 4th among inside linebackers, and 86th among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.
