The Georgia Bulldogs did not start their 2013 season off the way they had envisioned, but their 38-35 opening loss to Clemson can quickly be fixed with a win over No. 6 South Carolina this weekend.
The Bulldogs will also be hosting a multitude of top 2014 and 2015 prospects this weekend for official and unofficial visits that they need to win over as well.
Of the top target prospects in attendance in Athens this weekend, the biggest are five-stars Lorenzo Carter and David Sharpe, as well as four-stars Elisha Shaw and Rashaan Evans. Shaw will be taking the visit as an official along with Juwann Winfree. Winfree is a four-star safety prospect from New Jersey who has the Dawgs up at the top along with Pittsburgh.
Joining the top 2014 prospects will also be a few 2015 recruits who are on the top of UGA’s big board. The list includes: Taj Griffin (RB), Chuma Edoga (OL), Mitch Hyaat (OL), Trenton Thompson (DL), as well as Terry Goodwin (ATH).
Georgia will also have a handful of current commitments coming in for official and unofficial visits including Sony Michel, Jeb Blazevich, Nick Chubb, Detric Dukes, Dyshon Sims, and 2015 wide receiver commit Christian Owens.
The Bulldog’s athletic association made a huge decision recently to now seat the majority of the recruits in the West end zone of the stadium, where the Bulldog statue is, so that they can be much closer to the field and be right beside the team as they run out. Before this change, players were forced to sit in mid to upper level seating away from most of the action.
Mark Richt and his staff have a big window of opportunity this weekend to not only try and keep their SEC title hopes alive in the game, but to also make a lasting impression a recruits they need to land in February.
