On Sunday, the Hokies landed 2014 three-star defensive tackle Ricky Walker who is rated by the 247Sports composite rankings as the No. 28 overall defensive tackle in the nation.

The Hampton, VA native chose the Hokies over Nebraska, Boston College and Georgia Tech, among others.

At 6’2, 275 pounds, Walker does not have elite size or speed (5.0 forty-yard dash), but he does have a quick first step and explosiveness off of the football and a work ethic in the trenches that will be needed in the ACC.

Walker is commitment No. 21 for Virginia Tech and is the only defensive tackle currently committed to Head Coach Frank Beamer and company.

The addition of Walker now puts the Hokies with the 21st best recruiting class in the country and fifth overall in the ACC.
